Biff Bam Pop’s weekly The Wednesday Run column, written by JP Fallavollita featuring the comic book release of the week for Wednesday, March 13, 2019.
This isn’t the first time a character with “Marvel” in their name has been featured by me. Nope.
From the comic book pages of Captain Marvel, Marvel Comics’ most popular character these days (what with the $160 million opening weekend box office bonanza for the titular character in the latest film of the long-standing Marvel Cinematic Universe), comes the new The Magnificent Ms. Marvel #1. Written by Eisner Award winner Saladin Ahmed and illustrated by Minkyu Jung, this is not your mother’s Ms. Marvel of the 1970’s, 1980’s, 1990’s, or indeed, the Carol Danvers of just a few years ago. No, this tween-ager, Kamala Khan, gifted with shape-shifting super powers – and the important distinction of being the fist Muslim character to feature as the protagonist in her own monthly comic book series.
And she’s super popular among readers of all ages too!
